Overview

​

The COST Action DYNALIFE (CA21169) enters its fourth and final year with this General Conference, conceived as both a scientific and strategic closing event. The meeting will bring together the network to present, consolidate, and critically assess the most relevant results obtained throughout the Action, while laying the groundwork for future collaborative initiatives.

A distinctive feature of this conference is its explicit orientation toward synthesis and continuity. Rather than a conventional sequence of presentations, the program is designed to prioritize discussion, with the aim of identifying those results that most strongly contribute to the development of a quantitative and theoretical framework for biology, and to transform them into concrete proposals for future actions. Thus, a distinctive feature of this meeting is its explicit orientation toward the future.
Discussions will focus on:

  • What results constitute the strongest foundations of the DYNALIFE program

  • Which directions are ripe for consolidation and expansion

  • How to structure coherent, competitive proposals for upcoming European initiatives

Participants are strongly encouraged to contribute not only results, but also visions for continuation.

General Objectives

​

This event contributes to the main goals of the Action by:

  • Optimizing and integrating theoretical models

  • Fostering collaborations in the modelling of genetic information

  • Testing theoretical approaches with challenging genetic data

  • Promoting advanced training in theoretical and computational biology

  • Enhancing communication and dissemination of results

  • Strengthening cross-disciplinary interaction

  • Elaborating continuity proposals and future initiatives

Scientific Focus

​

The conference will prioritize contributions aligned with the core themes of DYNALIFE, including:

  • Theoretical models of genetic information flow and code organization

  • Theoretical approaches to the origin and evolution of life

  • Studies of minimal RNA replicators

  • Interplay between complex systems and biological information

  • Integration of machine learning and AI in theoretical biology

  • Emerging applications and perspectives from DYNALIFE

  • Dissemination and outreach activities

Structure and Sessions

​

The scientific program will combine focused presentations with extended discussion-oriented activities, placing strong emphasis on interaction and collective reflection.

Main components:

  • Plenary Lectures (overview of recent advances and open questions)

  • Contributed Lectures (dedicated to results in line with the main challenge)

  • Poster Sessions (with the same main scope than the Contributed Lectures)

  • Thematic Sessions (describing key results of the Action)

  • Roundtable Discussions (core collaborative element of the meeting)

  • Open Session on Future Activities (continuity proposals and collaborations)

  • Minimal Replicators Session

  • Dissemination and Outreach Session

  • Future Initiatives and Continuity Proposals

Additional activities:

  • Screening of the Second DYNALIFE Documentary

  • Final meetings of all Working Groups (WGs)

  • Management Committee Meeting to produce concluding remarks and recommendations

  • Core Group Meeting to plan the agenda for closing the Action and to produce the final reports and accessory documents

Participation and Philosophy

​

The conference is designed to ensure broad and balanced participation across Working Groups, career stages, and countries.

​

Contributions will be selected not only on scientific quality, but also on their capacity to:

  • Reflect the main achievements of the Action

  • Provide integrative and synthetic perspectives

  • Identify open problems and future directions

  • Contribute to the definition of follow-up initiatives

​

Participants are expected to engage actively in discussion sessions, which will constitute a central component of the meeting.

​

Significance

​

This event represents both the culmination of DYNALIFE and a starting point for future initiatives, contributing to the establishment of a new paradigm in theoretical and quantitative biology.

​

Registration and financial support

​

The DYNALIFE COST Action will offer financial support to a limited number of participants with affiliation in COST countries.

​

DYNALIFE members please specify in the registration form whether you need a COST refund (i.e. if you are not able to attend the conference without COST support). If so, please do not make any travel arrangements and wait for a decision on the acceptance of your contribution. We will then send you an official e-cost invitation.
