BELGRADE 2023

COST Action CA21169 DYNALIFE WG1 Meeting:
Modelling Information Flow in Biological Coding Systems

Dates: June 20 - 21, 2023

Venue: Metropol Palace Hotel Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia

The first WG1 Meeting of the COST Action CA21169 DYNALIFE is co-located with Belgrade BioInformatics Conference (BelBI2023). BelBI is the leading bioinformatics and computational biology conference in the Western Balkan region and is in strong synergy with the objectives of DYNALIFE Action Working Groups WG1, WG2, and WG3.

The WG1 Meeting is dedicated to its objectives and tasks related to understanding biological information through modeling. Modeling information flow in biological coding systems is an extremely complex and multidimensional problem. A wide range of scientific approaches has been developed during the long history of science, making scientific communication, interaction, and integration some of the biggest challenges that DYNALIFE Action aims to tackle. Especially, WG1 must provide a multidimensional theoretical framework that could faithfully describe the complexity of the problem but without losing biological meaning and predictability, and can provide easily recognizable parameters, functions, features, and other required inputs for further analysis and verification through real data to WG2 and WG3. For this purpose, WG1 must translate its theoretical framework into an easy-to-understand language of specialists in other disciplines.

Researchers are invited to present their research in accordance with the objectives and tasks of WG1, as well as to highlight areas of their research in which they could collaborate with other members of DINALIFE Action, regardless of WG affiliation. Some of the expected outcomes of the WG1 Meeting are the preliminary mapping of research groups and areas, as well as the setting of the initial strategic research agenda through the identification of priority areas and approaches for further research. To facilitate this process, DYNALIFE members are expected to prepare 10-20 minutes presentations describing their past, current and future work activities related to WG1 objectives and tasks, inspiring in this way other WG members looking for potential collaborations.

The conference foresees

  • long presentations of 25 minutes (20 + discussion),

  • short presentations of 15 minutes (10 + discussion),

  • poster session (the maximum poster format is A0: 84.1 cm x 118.9 cm).

COST Reimbursement

The allocated funds for the WG1 Meeting enable the participation of about 30 fully reimbursed participants. Therefore, depending on the number of applications, we will apply some restrictions for deciding on full support. The most important aspect in the decision is the relatedness of the research presentation with the objectives of DINALIFE Action WG1.

Please specify in the registration form whether you require a COST reimbursement. If so, do not make any travel arrangements and wait for a decision on eligibility for your reimbursement (May 30th at the latest). We will then send you an official e-COST invitation.

Please let us know if you can attend the conference and cover the expenses without COST support. In that case, we suggest you start making travel arrangements as soon as possible.
